On Monday the group went on a trip to Thessaloniki to explore the city! We started by visiting Eptapyrgio (Acropolis of Thessaloniki) to see the beautiful view. After that, we split into several groups; Some visited the Archeological Museum of Thessaloniki, others prefered to discover the local gastronomy by tasting delicious dishes such as seafood and Trigona.
Even though the house where Kemal Ataturk was born we still got to see it from the outside. One of the most appreciated place was the umbrellas, where we took lots of beautiful photos! By the end of the day, all of us managed to see the White Tower, walk around the sea front and got to know each other better by spending quality time together! During the night, greek team presented their culture by teaching us traditional dances and funny facts about Greece. Woke up with no electricity in the morning. We thought the lightbulb was burnt. Furkan and Christos used their heads in the first energizer and kept their card. We attracted youth to the rural areas by creating campaigns for promoting advantages of living and doing agriculture. Ot was a very good workshop, Great Success! We decided to move into a village right the next day. The BBQ was so tasty that even vegetarians became predators. Adonis, Christos and the Italians prepared the food. A great BBQ finished with a game of how many phones are on the table (it was a matter of perspective).
Then, we had a Startup generator workshop were we brainstormed ideas to create new businesses that innovate agriculture and the well being of the society. That will definately transform the way we see agriculture and the environment we live in. The evening ended by making Romania great again with the intercultural night showcasing the great wine of the Moldovean and the traditional songs and dances performed by the participants. The second day of the exchange (Saturday) had a variety of very interesting activities, which broke the ice between the participants. At the beginning of the day, the Moldovian team made a presentation, which was talking about their nation’s difficulties on the agriculture sector (petroleum price, climate change, Russian embargo). It was a good opportunity to earn knowledge about a non well known country to the average European. The next activity was the most adventurous one. The group was divided in teams of 6 people and their task was to trade a pen with the most valuable object they could in 30 minutes. The results were quite impressive, and everyone enjoyed the whole process. In the afternoon, each country talked about the most notable success story in the agriculture industry that they know from their country. The closing of the day was relaxing and joyfully. Turkey and Ukraine made a presentation about their countries, which included general information, food , dance and generally fun. During the first day of the Youth Exchange, we had the chance to get to know each other and break the ice between us. We firstly had an introduction about the project and the place. Then, we played some name games and the Turkish team coordinated outdoor team building activities at the amphitheatre of Nea Kallikratia, since the weather was sunny. After lunch, the Moldovian team explained an alternative way to discover our expectations, fears & contributions regarding the project. More specifically, we were divided into 6 groups in order for each group to take a group picture for each category (expectation, fear, contribution). When the groups had their photos they gathered to the beach and explained the meaning of the pictures one by one. After that, we went back to the hotel and agreed about the rules throughout the project. During the night, we had free time to socialize and to discover greek night life. |
